　　The first day of the Lunar New Year is "the welcoming of the gods of the heavens and earth."Many people abstain from meat on the first day of the new year because it is believed that this will ensure long and happy lives for them.

　　農(nóng)歷新年第一天要迎接“天地神明”。有些人會(huì)在這一天戒葷，因?yàn)樗麄兿嘈胚@會(huì)保佑他們健康幸福。

　　On the second day, the Chinese pray to their ancestors as well as to all the gods. They are extra kind to dogs and feed them well as it is believed that the second day is the birthday of all dogs。

　　第二天，中國(guó)人會(huì)祭祀祖先和神明。他們會(huì)善待小狗，給它們喂食，據(jù)說(shuō)新年第二天是所有狗的生日。

　　The third and fourth days are for the sons-in-laws to pay respect to their parents-in-law.

　　第三天和第四天是女婿給岳父岳母拜年的日子。

　　The fifth day is called Po Woo. On that day people stay home to welcome the God of Wealth. No one visits families and friends on the fifth day because it will bring both parties bad luck。

　　第五天被稱為“破五”，這一天人們會(huì)呆在家里歡迎財(cái)神的到來(lái)。沒(méi)人會(huì)在這一天走親訪友，因?yàn)檫@會(huì)給雙方帶來(lái)厄運(yùn)。

　　On the sixth to the 10th day, the Chinese visit their relatives and friends freely. They also visit the temples to pray for good fortune and health.

　　第六天至第十天，人們會(huì)走親訪友，同時(shí)有的人會(huì)去寺廟祈福，祈求好運(yùn)和健康。

　　The seventh day of the New Year is the day for farmers to display their produce. These farmers make a drink from seven types of vegetables to celebrate the occasion. The seventh day is also considered the birthday of human beings. Noodles are eaten to promote longevity and raw fish for success。

　　新年的第七天，農(nóng)民們會(huì)擺出農(nóng)產(chǎn)品。他們將七種蔬菜榨汁飲用來(lái)慶祝此刻。第七天也被認(rèn)為是人類的生日。人們會(huì)吃長(zhǎng)壽面來(lái)祈求長(zhǎng)壽，同時(shí)供奉生魚(yú)祈求成功。

　　On the eighth day the Fujian people have another family reunion dinner, and at midnight they pray to Tian Gong, the God of Heaven.

　　在第八天，福建人會(huì)再吃一頓團(tuán)圓飯，在午夜他們會(huì)向天公祈福。

　　The ninth day is to make offerings to the Jade Emperor。

　　第九天要供奉玉皇大帝。

　　The 10th through the 12th are days that friends and relatives should be invited for dinner. After so much rich food, on the 13th day you should have simple rice congee and mustard greens (choi sum) to cleanse the system。

　　第十天到第十二天，邀請(qǐng)親朋好友來(lái)吃飯。吃了這么多豐盛的食物后到了第十三天要吃一些清淡的粥和芥菜。

　　The 14th day should be for preparations to celebrate the Lantern Festival which is to be held on the 15th night.
